iWarnU harnesses the power of your iphone and turns it into a sophisticated alarm system.

When the application is triggered (using the accelerometer) an alarm of your choice is activated. The alarm can also ring a nominated telephone number so you can listen into the phone itself!

Your phone could be placed in a handbag, motor vehicle or just left on your desk, once moved it will sound an alarm, play and display a message or ring a nominated number. It will also log all movements of the phone showing date and time. iWarnU has hundreds of uses from security to practical jokes . . . it makes a great whoopee cushion!

Requirements: iphone only, not ipod touch.

Once the application is open it's best to go straight to the settings area to set up the device

As you can see from the screengrabs above, you have five areas to set:

// Phone

The phone alert can be on or off, if activated you will need to add a phone number you want to contact when the alarm is activated

// Audio

The audio alert can be your iphone ringtones, or your own recording.

Volume - this needs to be set in the main iphone settings, or using the
volume key when alarm sounding (or using the play back/preview
functionality in the recorder/file browser).

The default sound is set to' Siren'. Click new and you can record any sound or message of your choice!

// Message

In the message section you can type a customised message that will show once the alarm is activated.

// Sensitivity

Sets the accelerometer to high or low sensitivity

// Logging

A reporting log so you can see when the phone was moved.

Once setup return to the ARM view and arm the phone by pressing the black button

This will turn red to indicate the phone is now armed.

 

FAQ:

 

Q: The application doesn't go into sleep mode, how will this effect battery life?

A: The device can be armed for around 5 hours, but due to Apple Developer restrictions the sleep mode has to be deactivated, so the accelerometer works. You can also try turning down the backlight to improve battery life.

Q: How many times can the application ring another phone?

A: Once activated the iWarnU will ring the nominated number ONCE. You can listen into the phone for as long as you like, but once you hang-up the application will turn off and your phone will no longer be armed. Again this is a restriction by Apple, but we are looking into this.
